Volvo S60 Polestar coming to Australia

Volvo has teamed up with fellow Swedish firm and racing partner Polestar to deliver the collaboration's first official performance model - the Volvo S60 Polestar.

Exclusive to the Australian market, the Volvo S60 Polestar will go on sale later this year and each Volvo car will feature an individually numbered plaque on the car's floating console.

Only 50 cars have been built, with the special edition based on the marque's Volvo S60 Performance Project and reaching 100 kilometres per hour in just 5.8 seconds - 0.3 seconds faster than the 2011 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design.

The Volvo S60 Polestar also offers an additional 18 kilowatts of torque, bringing to total to 242 kW.

Exterior features include a performance quad-exhaust system and bespoke rear air diffuser, as well as 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.

According to managing director of Volvo Car Australia Matt Braid, the addition to the Australian line-up comes as no surprise.

"We were delighted with the response to our Performance Project concept at the [Australian International] motor show and wanted to deliver on our promise to customers - the demand was there, so we gave the project the green light," he said (January 17).
